Remember to reflect on your progress towards your initial goals, how those goals may have shifted/changed, and what impact this time has had on you overall. I do not believe our goals have changed much other than the addition of new goals. I originally planned on learning mostly about the mechanics of automobiles, how they work, what is required for upkeep, etc. However, This project has also taught me a lot about buying and selling in the secondhand market. Having to reach out to others in order to keep progressing in our goals was something we did not account for originally, but it allowed us to meet a lot of new people and it brought an aspect of challenge to this project that we welcomed. Would you recommend this senior project to another student? Why or why not? If you have the adequate resources and flexibility to work around a lot of problems and think in advance about issues that may arise I would totally recommend this project. We had a lot of tools at our disposal and w...

Tell a story about a happy/challenging/funny/meaningful moment from the week One story that sticks out to me was meeting some prospective buyers for the van. We have been hoping to sell the van we worked on in the first week in order to pay ourselves back for the supplies and materials we have invested in this project. We have met a few interested customers, but the last people we talked to were the most interesting. They were an older couple who needed a van to be able to drive their grandkids around in. During the test drive, we inquired a little bit about their lives. He ended up telling us the story of how he was a veteran who had learned who was stationed in China about 50 years ago. He met a woman and learned Cantonese in order to talk to her. That woman ended up being his wife, and 47 years later they are still married. They moved all around the world due to the military but ended up in Tuscon Arizona before moving to Forest Grove a couple years ago. This impacted me becau...

Tell a story about a happy/challenging/funny/meaningful moment from the week One story that stands out to me from this week was buying our 94 Ford explorer. After scouring Craigslist and OfferUp for days we finally had found a car that looked perfect for our project. We met up with an older gentleman from Aloha, who had listed the car a couple days prior. We told him about our project and he was very interested and thought it was a great idea. In fact, he liked it so much he gave us a discount! and we only had to buy it for a couple hundred dollars! It was a really great experience meeting someone in the car community who was so nice, welcoming and generous to us.  What have you learned?   Ultimately I have learned the importance of caring for a car, treating it well, and keeping up on matinence. While the gentleman who sold the car to us was incredibly kind, the car itself was barely holding on. Driving it back to our location was scary and the car was covered in dirt, grime,...

·       The person/organization you are working with (if applicable), the classes you chose to continue, or the Capstone Project you are working on The capstone project we are working on is learning about the mechanical aspect of cars by independently fixing various problems on cars. We are also getting an up close look at the world of vehicles through buying and selling cars, appraising values, and long waits in the DMV line.   ·       Why did you choose this particular project? The main appeal for a project like this was the independence and type of work that it entailed. We all wanted to continue learning in a hands on way as the pandemic had really limited us in that regard. We also wanted something that allowed us to use our hands and would give us tangible results. We are all interested in cars and have varying levels of familiarity with them (however none of us are close to being experts on the subject) and we wante...
