  • Remember to reflect on your progress towards your initial goals, how those goals may have shifted/changed, and what impact this time has had on you overall.

I do not believe our goals have changed much other than the addition of new goals. I originally planned on learning mostly about the mechanics of automobiles, how they work, what is required for upkeep, etc. However, This project has also taught me a lot about buying and selling in the secondhand market. Having to reach out to others in order to keep progressing in our goals was something we did not account for originally, but it allowed us to meet a lot of new people and it brought an aspect of challenge to this project that we welcomed.

  • Would you recommend this senior project to another student? Why or why not?

If you have the adequate resources and flexibility to work around a lot of problems and think in advance about issues that may arise I would totally recommend this project. We had a lot of tools at our disposal and were willing to fund any items we didn't have out of our own pockets. This was crucial to the success of our project, and without it I do not think our endeavors would have been as fruitful. If somebody were to have the same advantages as us, I think it would be a great project for the scope and timeframe that is allotted during senior projects.

  • Should the school incorporate some of these wider “passion project” proposals into more traditional Senior Projects? Why or why not?

Yes. While this may not have had as much structure, being able to fully control the learning style, timeframe, and goals of the project was very enjoyable and made for a great experience. It was great to have all of the control and being able to not only learn about cars, but also learn about teaching strategies, time management, planning, and many other things in a new setting.

  • If you worked as part of a cohort, what was that experience like for you? Should the school continue allowing cohorts to work together? Why or why not?

Working with a cohort was great. As we were very independent, working in a group allowed for us to be able to bounce ideas off of each other, consult with one another to plan, and made the work much more enjoyable and fun. We were also able to split up some of the responsibilities, for example, one person could drive to gather materials while the others continued working.
