·       The person/organization you are working with (if applicable), the classes you chose to continue, or the Capstone Project you are working on

The capstone project we are working on is learning about the mechanical aspect of cars by independently fixing various problems on cars. We are also getting an up close look at the world of vehicles through buying and selling cars, appraising values, and long waits in the DMV line.

·       Why did you choose this particular project?

The main appeal for a project like this was the independence and type of work that it entailed. We all wanted to continue learning in a hands on way as the pandemic had really limited us in that regard. We also wanted something that allowed us to use our hands and would give us tangible results. We are all interested in cars and have varying levels of familiarity with them (however none of us are close to being experts on the subject) and we wanted to increase our knowledge and learn practical skills for later in life.

·       Introductions - what was your inspiration, who are the people you’re working with, etc.

I am working with Terin Snyder, Jake Nemecek, and Nate Paradis. We didn't have a specific inspiration for this project. While trying to brainstorm projects, we realized that cars have always interested all of us to some degree but none of us had in depth knowledge of the mechanics behind them. We decided that this would be a great way to work with something we all have an interest in while also learning practical skills like mechanical engineering, buying and selling smartly, how to work efficiently with a group, and troubleshooting indepently.

·       How did you pull together this particular project?

Family friends of one of our members had a minivan that needed some extensive work and decided to gift it to us to help get us started. We pooled together the tools from our respective houses and through the help of google we are going to analyze, learn, and fix the issues that the car has. Once one car is done we will move onto another harder one, with more issues to fix.

·       3 goals for your senior project (set these with your mentor)

Learning to perform basic maintenance and cleaning

Learning how to buy and sell smartly in the second hand car market

Teamwork in a real life situation/Problem solving in an unknown area

  1. Hello Andrew. I wrote to all your peers as well, so you can read some other comments. I'm glad you are working together, exploring and learning about cars. Are you at all thinking about modifications on this van? (lol... supercharged turbo system or something alike... it looks like a mean van...lol :-) But, hey, that leather doesn't look bad at all!
